Artwork Packaging
We understand that all our artworks are precious, fragile and valuable. Our artists, gallery partners, and packaging partners take great care to ensure your artwork is delivered efficiently, safely and securely. Whether packaged directly by the artist, the gallery, or our professional packaging experts, your artwork will be wrapped with the utmost care.

Sustainability Commitment
While we prioritize safe packaging, we recognize the environmental impact of materials like bubble wrap and polystyrene. We are committed to finding more sustainable options and will transition to eco-friendly alternatives as they become available.

Artwork Insurance
Every artwork is insured during transit for its full value (excluding freight, packaging, duties, and taxes). This provides peace of mind that your artwork is protected from the artist’s studio to your doorstep.

Delivery

 

Delivery
We aim to deliver all artworks within 30 days from the day you purchase the Artworks. This length of time is due to the nature of each work being an original and delivery is from the artist/gallery or may require framing. We aim to ship within 10 working days of your online purchase unless framing is required. Any delivery dates provided are estimates.

Our Delivery Process
Our step-by-step process is intended to ensure your beautiful piece of art gets to you safely:

1. Notification: After your purchase through our website, we will notify the artist or the gallery. The artist or gallery has up to 7 working days to prepare the work for shipment, either packaging it themselves or handing it to our trusted delivery partner.

2. Packaging & Tracking: Once packaged, you will receive tracking information from our freight partner, who will coordinate delivery. If you have any queries concerning the delivery, please contact our delivery partner through the tracking service, or contact us.

3. Delivery and Inspecting Upon Arrival: Deliveries will be made by the Carrier to the address stipulated in your order. You must ensure that someone is present to accept the delivery. Artworks are sent at our risk until signed for by you or by any other person at the address you have given to us. All Goods must be signed for on delivery by an adult aged 18 years or over. If no one of that age is at the address when the delivery is attempted the Goods may be retained by the driver. When your Goods arrive, it is important that you check immediately the condition and quantity. If your Goods have been damaged in transit, notify us within 48 hours. Signing “Unchecked”, “Not Checked” or similar is not acceptable Please unwrap and inspect your artwork immediately upon receipt to ensure it has arrived in perfect condition. If we agree with you to deliver on a particular day or at a particular time, we will do our best to comply. But no time given is to be treated as contractual. We are not liable to you for any expense or inconvenience you incur on account of delayed delivery or non-delivery.

4. Damaged Items: In the rare event of damage, contact us immediately, within 48 hours so we can work with the artist or gallery, our delivery partner and our insurer to resolve the issue. We cannot accept returns for items damaged after receipt. If an artwork arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with photos of the damage and packaging. We will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.

General Delivery Terms

 

Delivery Costs
Our delivery and packaging fees are calculated based on the size, weight, and distance your artwork needs to travel. The cost covers packaging materials, the time spent packing, and insurance to protect your purchase in transit.
Since each artwork is unique and shipped directly from the artist or gallery, each piece must be packaged and insured separately, meaning shipping fees apply to each artwork purchased. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us – we’re happy to assist!

Extra Large, Heavy and Fragile Artworks
Some artworks are marked “Custom Shipping Quote” because they are either too large, too heavy or too fragile for our regular freight services. For these pieces, simply proceed to the checkout and we will be in touch to provide a specific packaging and delivery quote for your personalised delivery. Some Goods are so large, heavy or fragile that delivery times may be slightly longer. In this case, approximate delivery dates will be given when you place your order.

Multiple Artwork Deliveries
We are able to handle multiple artwork deliveries. Simply fill in your details in the pop-up box and a member of our team will be in touch. We will provide a specific packaging and delivery quote for your personalised delivery. We may deliver the Goods in instalments if they are not all available at the same time for delivery.

P.O. Boxes
Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to P.O. boxes or forwarding addresses. Please ensure that you provide a valid street address at checkout to avoid any delays or issues with fulfilling your order.

Changing Delivery Details
The delivery address will be as per your details entered at time of purchase.
Need to change your delivery address? If we receive your request promptly, we can adjust or redirect your shipment to the correct location but it depends on how far along your order is. Please contact us as soon as you know that you would like the delivery address changed and we will do our best to accommodate the change.

Delivery Timeframes and Delays
There may occasionally be delivery delays in your beautiful artwork getting to you, there may be many reasons for this. We will do our best to keep you informed. Please note that if we experience delays at any point in our process we will be in touch to keep you in the loop with the expected delivery time frame. Some delays may be beyond our control, our delivery partners control, our gallery partners and the artist’s control.
If you need your artwork by a specific date, please let us know. Standard courier deliveries typically ship within 7 days of order confirmation, but delivery times will vary depending on your location.

Risk of Damage and Ownership Transfer
The risk of damage or loss passes to you once the artwork has been delivered to the agreed address. However, ownership of the artwork only transfers to you once full payment has been received for the purchase, including any additional amounts owed.

International Orders
At this time, our online purchases are for delivery within New Zealand only. If you live outside of New Zealand and would like to purchase an artwork, please contact us directly, and we’ll arrange delivery for you. Please note all international orders are not duty paid and may incur additional charges once the parcel reaches its destination country.

Foreign taxes and duties

Understanding Original Artworks
Each artwork at The Art Precinct is and original/ one-of-a-kind, whether a unique creation or a limited-edition work on paper. On our website each piece is accompanied by photographs of the artworks, including detail images and descriptions, but there’s always more to discover in person—the intricate details and subtle beauty often go beyond what photos can capture. If you’d like more images or have any questions about a piece or the artist, don’t hesitate to talk to us. We’re confident that once your artwork arrives, you’ll fall even more in love with it! Feel free to ask for advice—our support is always available and complimentary! We share your passion for art and are here to assist you in finding your perfect match.
Since each artwork is a distinct creation, sent directly from the artist, returns are only considered in cases where the condition or description doesn’t match. We handle these situations individually, in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act and New Zealand law.

If you need to return a purchase or request an exchange, you have 7 days from receipt to do so if the item is defective or for any other reason. Here’s how:

Your invoice number
Artwork title
Reason for return

Return the artwork in its original packaging and condition, following the return instructions we’ll provide after your email.

Since our products are unique, exchanges for the exact same item are not possible, Please contact us for any other questions or concerns. Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we’ll notify you via email about the exchange.

Cancellation
You may cancel your order within 24 hours by emailing he***@************ct.com.

Artwork Photographs
All artwork photos on our site are provided by the artist or gallery. Variations in images, angles, and lighting may occur. We aim to provide the best quality images possible and may retouch photos for online viewing.

Price, Payment, and Currencies
All prices listed on our site are quoted in New Zealand dollars and include GST. You are able to pay in other currencies at checkout, but this will convert New Zealand dollars into your currency of choice.
If purchasing from overseas, you will be responsible for any additional taxes, including customs duties, that apply in the destination country.

Payment Methods
We accept credit and debit card payments at the time of placing your order. Payment in full will be taken immediately, confirming your purchase and bringing the contract into effect.

Accurate Payment Details
Please ensure that all payment details provided during checkout are correct and that the payment method belongs to you. It’s important that your account or card has sufficient funds to cover the full cost of your order. We reserve the right to verify your payment details before accepting your order.

Credits
Any credits you accumulate may only be applied at our discretion. We reserve the right to adjust, limit, or revoke the use of credits at any time, and the conditions for earning or applying credits may change without notice.
