Based in Arrowtown, Tori Beeche draws on archival imagery, personal memory, and her Scandinavian heritage.
Tori’s work reimagines poetic fragments of history through a contemporary lens. She creates layered compositions that explore nostalgia, longing, and the shaping power of interior spaces. Her paintings often employ the motifs of genre painting – windows, mirrors, and doorways – interwoven with decorative elements and patterns that question how environments influence perception and memory.
Tori graduated with a BFA (First Class Honours, 2015) and MFA (First Class Honours, 2020) from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. Her work has been exhibited widely, including Spaces of Synchronicity at Malcolm Smith Gallery (2021) and RESIST at Allpress Studio Gallery (2021), and has been recognised in finalist exhibitions for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award, New Zealand Painting & Printmaking Award, and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize.
