Based in Warkworth, on the edge of forested valleys and not far from thriving artistic townships such as Matakana, Janette Cervin immerses herself in this stunning part of the world through paint. With a masters degree in painting from Unitec (2013), Janette’s works are admired by many around the country.

Janette’s paintings portray a fragile yet magnificent ecosystem of life in Aotearoa. Birds mingle with flowers within a deep bushy surround that exists in abundance beyond the canvas. Viewers will be left feeling inspired by the dreamlike world Janette has created, based on our natural surroundings.

In her painting Hydrangea Blues, a wistful three-dimensional quality invites you to fall into a fantasy world. In Morning Song, flowers mingle with birdlife creating an endless portal of detail. Janette’s painting Bloomin’ Glorious envelops the senses petal after petal in beautiful, painterly detail that is almost dreamlike.

Janette’s paintings are large in scale, with an incredible resin finish that creates an illusion of depth. She is currently experimenting with matt finishes as well. Her intention is to offer an almost three-dimensional, immersive experience, where details can continue to be uncovered with every viewing. This glossy paradise of colour and vitality is reminiscent of the old European Masters, because of her technique as well as her ability to behold the wonder of the natural world.
