Originally from Australia, Madeline is an accomplished mid-career glass artist based in Whanganui.

Receiving a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Australian National University in 2009, Madeline then relocated to Adelaide, SA to undertake the two-year Associate Training Program in the Glass Studio at JamFactory. Madeline is the current Manager of New Zealand Glassworks, Whanganui.

Long fascinated by the technical aspects of pattern making in glass and the extensive possibilities of Venetian cane work, Madeline presents a body of works exploring the intriguing manipulations of light and optics, texture and pattern. Exploiting the unique optical qualities of the material, Madeline aims to display an absorbing landscape of tactile pattern. Elevating pattern from merely a decorative afterthought to the integral reason for making.

Madeline has taught in Australia and USA, undertaken residencies in Australia, Germany and Sweden, been Craftsperson in Residence at Pilchuck Glass School, USA and teaching assistant for numerous artists through Australia and USA. Madeline has exhibited throughout New Zealand and Australia and has been a selected finalist in the Tom Malone Prize (2021) and FUSE Glass Prize (2020).
