Linda’s practice centers on the use and reuse of architectural remnants, wooden substrates and repurposed wooden objects – materials that once served a quite different life.

For Linda, these are never just objects but carriers of meaning, prompting a set of questions before any paint is applied: what history is embedded in this piece, who made it, what culture or community does it come from, and what stories might it still trigger in the present. Researching those answers and translating them through paint into a new visual narrative is central to her process, alongside what she calls the role of chance – the gap between intention and outcome, worked through by problem-solving as each piece finds its new form. Linda majored in Photography at Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland, in 1977, and her enduring interest in how light lands, bounces and reflects across surfaces remains visible throughout her paintings.

She has held solo exhibitions at Railway Street Gallery, Newmarket, including Narratives and Fragments (2026), Altered Perspectives (2024) and Homage I and II (2021–2022), alongside a solo show at The Depot Artspace, Devonport, and group exhibitions at Railway Street Gallery, The Depot Artspace, North Art and Lake House Gallery.
