Understanding Original Artworks

Each artwork at The Art Precinct is an original/ one-of-a-kind, whether a unique creation or limited-edition photographic print. On our website each piece is accompanied by photographs of the artworks, including detail images and descriptions, but there’s always more to discover in person—the intricate details and subtle beauty often go beyond what photos can capture. If you’d like more images or have any questions about a piece or the artist, don’t hesitate to talk to us. We’re confident that once your artwork arrives, you’ll fall even more in love with it!

We’re here to guide you in choosing the perfect piece. Feel free to ask for advice – our support is always available and complimentary! We share your passion for art and are here to assist you in finding your perfect match.

 

Ordering, Delivery, Returns and Changes

How long will it take to get my order?
Once purchased, most artworks are shipped within 10 business days. Orders requiring framing or special crates for delivery may take a bit longer (around 10 days for crates and 20 days for framed artworks). For deliveries within New Zealand, expect to receive your artwork within 5 to 10 days from dispatch, depending on your location and whether you need a Rural Delivery. International delivery may take 3 to 4 weeks.
For all orders, a signature is required for delivery. You will be emailed a tracking number when your order ships.

My artwork delivery has not arrived, what should I do?
If your artwork hasn’t arrived as expected, please e-mail us at he***@************ct.com, and we’ll work to resolve the issue.
Please note that The Art Precinct is not responsible for lost or stolen items once the delivery service marks it as ‘Delivered’ with a signature

Can I change my delivery address after placing an order?
This depends on how far along the order is. Please contact us as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to update the delivery details.

How do I pay?
Our secure checkout allows you to complete your purchase with ease, using debit or credit cards. Every transaction is safe and protected, ensuring The Art Precinct is a trustworthy place to buy art.

Do you ship to PO Boxes?
Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to PO boxes. Please provide a full daytime delivery address and a contact phone number to ensure smooth delivery.

Why do some artworks say ‘Custom Shipping Quote’?
Certain extra large, heavy or fragile artworks require special handling that our standard shipping process may not cover. If you see ‘Custom Shipping Quote’, simply proceed and our team will be in touch to discuss your options.

Does The Art Precinct ship internationally?
Yes! While we primarily focus on the New Zealand market, we’re happy to arrange international shipping. Please contact us at he***@************ct.com for a quote, or you can proceed with checkout, and we’ll adjust the shipping cost post-purchase. Please note that local taxes and duties may apply once your order arrives in its destination country. These are the responsibility of the customer, but we’re happy to assist with customs information as needed.

Will I have to pay customs duties for international deliveries?
In most cases, customs duties will apply to artworks shipped outside New Zealand. If you’re unsure about the regulations in your country, please email us at he***@************ct.com, and we’ll help guide you.

What is your returns policy?
We want you to love your art. If you’re not fully satisfied, please email us at he***@************ct.com within 7 days of receiving your artwork. If your piece arrives damaged, document the damage to artwork and packaging (photos work best) and notify us within 48 hours, so we can assist with the next steps.

Why should I choose The Art Precinct for buying art?

How do you guarantee the authenticity of your artworks and the artwork is genuine?
Every artwork on The Art Precinct is carefully selected, whether sourced directly from the artist or through our trusted gallery partners, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Most pieces are also signed and dated by the artist, ensuring their originality. If you need any additional documentation, such as for insurance purposes, just let us know at he***@************ct.comt, and we’ll be happy to assist. Rest assured, your art is genuine and uniquely crafted by the artist named.

Are the photos and information about the artworks accurate?
We work directly with artists and galleries to provide the most accurate images and information possible. However, variations in lighting and angles may occur. We’ve made every effort to present the artwork in its best light, as per the artist’s wishes. If you’d like more details or extra photos, we’re more than happy to provide them—just ask!

Can you help me select the right artwork?
Of course! We offer a complimentary art advisory service and can even collaborate with your interior designer if you’re working with one. Just send us a message at he***@************ct.com or text us at 0275 035-116. We’re here to make art selection fun and effortless!

Can I request a custom size or commission a new work from an artist I love?
Absolutely! We’re happy to help arrange a special size or commission a unique piece just for you, whether you’re after a small drawing, a striking outdoor sculpture, or a unique painting. While not all artists accept commissions, we’ll do our best to work with your preferred artist. Reach out to us at he***@************ct.com, and we’ll guide you through the process. Our team will ensure you love the final result, taking care of everything from creative direction to payment and delivery.

What if I’m looking for something specific that’s not on the website?
We’d love to help! Our complimentary art advisory service can assist in sourcing that perfect piece, whether for your home or a commercial project. Can you help me choose art as an investment?
While art can be an investment, we believe the most important thing is to choose pieces you truly love. Do you offer art consultancy and interior styling services?

Can I view an artwork in person before purchasing?
The Art Precinct is fully online, so we don’t have a physical space for viewings. But don’t worry! Our platform is designed to give you an immersive experience, and with our Augmented Reality technology, you can view artworks in your own space. This lets you see the piece in proportion, along with details like texture and finish, all from the comfort of your home.

Are there any hidden costs when buying through The Art Precinct?
No surprises here! The prices on our website include GST, but packaging and shipping will be added at checkout. If you’re purchasing from outside New Zealand, contact us, and we’ll help you navigate GST exclusions and any import duties or taxes applicable in your country.

Can I download and print images of the artworks?
No, sorry! All images of artworks are protected by copyright and remain the property of the artist. Downloading and printing is prohibited under New Zealand law.

Can I contact the artists or galleries directly?
The Art Precinct is here to facilitate your connection with both artists and galleries. If you’d like more information or access to a specific artist, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to discuss.

I’m an artist, can I show you my work?
To submit your work and join The Art Precinct Whanau, please send your bio, artist statement, CV, link to your website and/or social media channels, as well as a PDF of your available works to he***@************ct.com. Our Artist Management team individually reviews each submission and will be in touch within a month.
